A meeting of the political committee of the Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) is taking place today.

According to an NSP party source, the meeting will take place at 11 am at the central party office in Tinkune.

The meeting will dwell on an agenda of party unification with the CPN (Maoist Center) that has remained under discussion for a long time.

"The meeting will hold discussions on the party unification with other parties on the basis of the political ideology of socialism. The meeting will also form a task-force to hold dialogues to this end," said Bishwadeep Pandey, the chief of the Publicity Department.

Earlier, on Saturday evening, Maoist Center Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and NSP Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai held a meeting.

In the meeting, the two leaders had discussed issues including party unification, the vote of confidence to the government on January 10, and government formation at the province level, said NSP leader Ganga Narayan Shrestha.
