The government has made public its Common Minimum Program (CMP) that outlines its priorities as well as the tasks that will be executed during its term of office.

The CMP was announced in the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at a program held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The document brings together the policy priorities and minimum programs of the ruling parties.

The CMP has laid down a provision to provide social security to those above 60 years of age. Under social security, citizens over 60 years of age will be provided with health insurance facilities that will facilitate citizens' health care through an effective health insurance program that will provide free tests and medicines for non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

Similarly, the government is preparing to introduce a program such as giving a monthly allowance of 1,000 to those women of menstruating age.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has instructed all the secretaries to devise plan of actions within a month to implement the common minimum programmes and policy priorities of the government.

Directing the secretaries on Monday, PM Dahal expressed his commitment to firmly enforce the common minimum programmes once his government obtains the vote of confidence from the parliament.

PM Dahal is scheduled take a vote of confidence from the parliament on Tuesday. "We have no other alternatives to work in the interest of the nation, citizens and for good-governance, social justice and prosperity."

Stating that the policy programme and CMP were the base for unity among the coalition partners, PM Dahal shared that the programs of the ruling parties contained all issues ranging from socio-economic, education, health, employment and foreign policy among others.

PM Prachanda viewed that the CMP and policy priorities have outlined the tasks and priorities of the government to reflect how the government plans to advance.

He observed that the CMP and policy priorities were inevitable for social transformation of the country and its people. PM Prachanda dubbed that the CMP and policy priorities were an important document to guide the government.

According to the PM, his government was moving ahead with the commitments to ensure good governance, control anomalies and inhibit others from wrongdoing.

On a different note, PM Dahal claimed that the national economy and politics were not in a difficult situation in reality as stated.

Dahal expressed his confidence that massive change could be brought about in the country if all political parties moved ahead in unison and with firm determination. "Political stability and prosperity are only possible by dint of honest efforts from one and all."
