Three-day Indigenous Film Festival underway in federal Capital

The sixth Nepal Indigenous Film Festival kicked off in the federal capital on Sunday.

The festival underway at the Chabahil-based Film Development Board is to screen feature and short films, documentaries and AI-generated documentaries reflecting languages, cultures, traditions, histories, lifestyles and cultural aspects of the indigenous nationalities, according to organizers.

According to festival director Sagar Kreung, the festival aims to promote and highlight the art, civilizations and identities of the national indigenous at both the national and international levels.

Federation of Indigenous Films Nepal (FINFI) Acting President Bhuisal Lama is of the view that festival serves as a significant platform for preserving and promoting language, culture and history of the indigenous communities.

Various films including 'Peet', 'Swayambhu', 'Dolsyo Ramrani', ' Hyang Tanachha' and ' Dilsara' will be screened during three-day event. Awards will also be presented in various categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Documentary.

Inaugurating the festival on Sunday, Film Development Board Chair Dinesh DC highlighted the significance of such festivals in exploring indigenous cultures and promoting indigenous identities.
