All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), a student wing of the CPN (Unified Socialist), burnt an effigy of Minister for Education, Science and Technology Shisir Khanal in the capital on Friday morning.
Demonstrators hit the streets against Minister Khanal accusing him of spoiling private schools and killing the poor.
Irate students upped the ante against Minister Khanal after he assigned the private sector to print text books of grade 1 to 5.
ANNFSU President Sudesh Parajuli alleged that this decision was taken by the minister with an intention to receive hefty commission and to extort exhorbitant prices from parents for textbooks.
Meanwhile, they have demanded resignation of Minister Khanal, dubbing him as corrupt.
