Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore slammed the Razzies' organizers for "bullying" a young actor.
Ryan Keira Armstrong, 12, was controversially nominated for her appearance in the movie Firestarter by the parody awards, which celebrate the worst movies and performances.
On CBS's Talk of the Table, former child actress Drew Barrymore said, "When talking about children, all bets are off."
The Razzies' organizers have apologized and added an age restriction.
The Razzies, which bill themselves as the "ugly relative to the Oscars," announce their winners every year one day ahead of the Oscars.
It has angered a lot of actors, directors, and fans over the years, so controversy is nothing new to it.
Barrymore, 47, also portrayed Armstrong in the 1984 adaptation of the movie Firestarter when she was nine years old.
She has a wealth of experience as a kid actor, having appeared in Irreconcilable Differences and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
Armstrong was previously interviewed by Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show on US daytime television, and the actress said that the 12-year-old "could not have been lovelier."
"I don't like it because she is younger," she went on to say on Talk of the Table.
"We do want to be cautious about how we speak to or about people, because it encourages other people to join on that bandwagon.
"I'm glad to see people didn't jump on the 'let's make fun of her' wave, instead people said, 'this isn't right'."
