Lack of sufficient snow along the monsoon season has a direct impact on the electricity production.

Owing to the decrease in the water level in the rivers, Nepal Electricity Authority NEA has stated that electricity currently under production is 20 per cent less compared to the same period last year.

According to Managing Director of Authority Kulman Ghising, there may be more problems in terms of electricity production in March-May given it does not snow like past years.

The Authority has said that it has to cut power for upto nine hours a day already for large industries.

According to Managing Director Ghising, electricity production has decreased by 200 to 250 MW compared to the same period last year by the private sector and authorities.

MD Ghising has attributed adverse effect on the electricity production to dry winter.
