Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have held a meeting in Doha, the capital city of Qatar on Saturday.
The meeting between the two leaders took place during the Summit of the LDC Group, coordinated by Malawi, the current chair of the LDC group, today. DPM Shrestha also addressed the the Summit of the LDC Group, prior to meeting with the Secretary General.
DPM Shrestha, leading a Nepali delegation left for Doha of Qatar yesterday to take part in the
Fifth United Nations Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The Conference will be held from March 5 to 9, 2023.
Nepal is scheduled to take the chairmanship of the group of LDCs this year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In Doha, the Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha is scheduled to address the plenary session of the Conference and hold bilateral meetings with delegations from different countries and organizations. He will also interact with the representatives of the organizations of Nepali diaspora.
The delegation includes Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha, Vice-chairman of National Planning Commission, lawmaker Jitendra Narayan Dev, government secretaries and the ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar and other senior officials.
The Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to return from Doha on March 7.
