A writ petition has been registered in the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal over the insurgency-era case on Tuesday.
The case which was quashed in the Nepali month Kartik was registered today in line with the order issued by the Supreme Court on Friday.
The registration number of the writ petition is 079 WO-947. The hearing of the case will begin from Friday, said the Supreme Court.
As many as 14 kin of those who lost their lives during the decade-long Maoist insurgency have filed the writ against CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman demanding due action against him.
“We have filed the writ petition at the Supreme Court after the government paid no heed to our demands. The transitional justice will not conclude unless the perpetrators who took the lives of people after taking them under control during the insurgency are criminalized,” reads the petition.
The guilty should be punished since the existing law criminalizes the murder. “We are Maoist victims as defined by the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons (CIEDP) and the Section 2 (J) (1) and (9) of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), Act, 2071,” said the petition.
The petitioners have demanded that incumbent Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda be held accountable for the lives and properties incurred during the insurgency.
The hearing for the writ has been scheduled for Thursday.
