Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has also decided to vote for Ram Chandra Poudel, the candidate of the presidential elections.
With this, the number of parties in support of Pouel has reached 10. Prior to this, the nine-party alliance had fielded Poudel as a common candidate for the post of President.
The voting is underway. It will continue until 3 pm.
A meeting of the RSP held this morning decided to vote for Poudel saying that he will save the Constitution.
“We have decided to vote in favor of Poudel as he will safeguard the Constitution,” the lawmaker told Nepalkhabar.
Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajbadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Rastriya Janamorcha were in the nine-party alliance. With the decision of RSP, the number of parties in support of Poudel has reached 10.
Independent lawmakers Prabhu Sah and Amaresh Kumar Singh have not made their views public.
RPP and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) have decided not to vote for any candidates.
Poudel and Subas Nembang of CPN (UML) are vying for the of President.
