Ram Chandra Poudel elected third President of Nepal

Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has been elected as the third president of Nepal. 

Poudel got (214 votes of federal parliament and 352 of Province Assembly) 33, 802 votes.

Paudel defeated his competitor CPN (UML) candidate Subas Chandra Nembang. With this win, he became the third President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal for the fourth term.

Paudel was supported by 10 parties including Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and Rastriya Swatantra Party for the presidential election.

His rival, Nembang, received 15,518 votes. Only UML lawmakers cast votes for Nembang. In the presidential election, 313 MPs (24,727 votes) voted from the Federal Parliament. Similarly, 518 (24, 864 votes) MPs voted from the Province Assembly.
