The writ petition registered in the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is being heard today.
A single bench of Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwad is scheduled to hear the writ petition.
A joint bench of Justices Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Hari Phuyal had ordered to register the petition which earlier been rejected by the Supreme Court Administration.
Earlier on Thursday, the petition had been scheduled for hearing in the single bench of Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha but it was postponed for today, citing busy schedule.
Conflict victims including Gyanendra Raj Aran and Chiranjibibas Giri have filed separate writ petitions against Prachanda over the insurgency era case.
The petitioners in the writs have demanded an action against Prachanda based on his statement.
On January 15, 2020, Prachanda, at a program, had said that he would take the responsibility for 5,000 out of 17,000 people killed during the Maoist insurgency.
The writs have been filed in line with Prachanda’s statement.
