Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhari is set to file nomination for the election of the Vice President.

A parliamentary party of the NUP held in Singha Durbar this morning decided to field Shrestha for the post of vice president. The election of the vice president is scheduled for March 17.

Unmukti's MP Gangaram Chaudhary has informed the media that it has been decided to field the chairman for the post of the presidential candidate.

Chaudhari also said that the party president has been decided to be promoted to vice-president and now the alliance formed for the presidential election will be discussed.

Senior leader of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel has been elected as President on Thursday.

In this case, voices are being raised that a person from a different community or gender is needed for the post of Vice President. The Election Commission has also recommended the parties to advance women to the post of Vice President.

There was talk of Janata Samajbadi Parliamentary Party leader Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav becoming the vice president from the eight-party alliance led by the Nepali Congress and the Maoist Center.

There was a crowd of MPs taking and photos during the presidential election on Thursday, calling him the candidate of the coalition.

But only on Friday, Nepali Congress Deputy Chairman Purna Bahadur Khadka said that the alliance has not yet decided on the candidate for the Vice President.

Similarly, General Secretary of Maoist Center Dev Gurung also said that there is no decision about the Vice President.

Speaking after the meeting of Maoist stream leaders in Baluwatar, he said that they are of the opinion that the Vice President should be from a different community and gender.
