CPN-UML has decided to field party's Vice Chairperson Astalaxmi Shakya as a candidate for the post of vice president.
A Secretariat meeting of the UML held at the party's central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur this morning took a decision to this effect, said UML Central Office Secretary Dr. Bhishma Adhikari.
Political parties are filing nomination papers today for the vice presidential elections to be held on March 17.
UML had nominated party Vice Chair Subas chandra Nemwang for the presidency. However, he lost to the nine-party alliance candidate Ram Chandra Poudel.
Poudel has become the new president of the country.
