A nine-party ruling alliance meeting convened at Baluwatar to select a common presidential candidate has ended inconclusively.

The meeting could not strike a deal after both Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Janamat Party claimed for the post of vice president.

According to a leader privy to the meeting, both JSP and Janamat Party will file nomination papers today and one of the candidates will withdraw his/her candidacy tomorrow, according to the decision.

JSP has already decided to field Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav as the candidate for the post of vice president. Similarly, Janamat Party has decided to field Mamata Jha.

Lawmaker and Chairman of Aam Janata Party Prabhu Sah was also present in the meeting.

Parties are filing nomination papers today for the vice presidential elections to be held on March 17.

The Election Commission (EC) has set 9 am to 2 pm for the parties to file nomination papers for the post of vice president.
