Three candidates representing the 10-party ruling alliance filed nominations for the presidential election after the alliance meeting did not come up with a common candidature.
Two candidates from Janata Samajbadi Party and one from Janamat Party filed candidacies for the vice president after a meeting of the ruling alliance including Aam Janata Party led by Prabhu Sah held this morning failed to strike a deal.
Parliamentary Party leader Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav and Pramila Yadav from JSP and Mamata Jha from Janamat Party have filed candidacies.
Even though all three candidates registered candidacies for the post today, two of them will withdraw their candidacies tomorrow, according to the alliance leaders.
The time for filing nominations has been set from 9 am to 2 pm today for the presidential elections to be held on March 17.
