Nepal have qualified for ICC World Cup Qualifier by defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) by nine runs in D/L method.
Nepal had to notch up 260 runs in 44 overs to reach the target as per the D/L method but they had already collected 269 runs in the ODI tri-series held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur today.
The umpire declared the win in favor of Nepal after bad light forced the match to go into the D/L method.
With this win, Nepal climbed the third position in the one day international (ODI) series of the League 2 and qualified for the ICC World Cup Qualifier.
Gulsan Jha’s 50-run haul studded with four fours and two sixes played a decisive role for the victory of Nepal.
Similarly, Bhim Sarki topped the score with 67 runs including nine fours off 76 deliveries followed by Aarif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel with 52 and 50 runs, respectively.
Junaid Siddique took three wickets giving away 51 runs followed by Aayan Afzal Khan grabbed two wickets while Zahoor Khan claimed one wicket for UAE.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, UAE notched up 310 runs loing six wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Asif Khan topped the score with record 101 not out runs including four fours and 11 sixes off 42 balls.
Simialrly, Vriitya Aravind made 94 runs including eight fours and two sixes off 138 delivaries while Muhammad Waseem contributed 63 runs off 49 balls to set such a huge tartget for Nepal.
In reply, Dipendra Singh Airee claimed two wickets while Dipendra Singh Airee, Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajbanshi took one wicket each.
This was the highest target Nepal ever received from UAE in the League 2.
Asif Khan is declared the player of the match.
