Voting held to elect a new vice president, which started at 10 am, is over.
Parliamentarians voted till 3 pm at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar.
As many as 310 votes were cast under the Federal Parliament and 518 votes under the Province Assembly, the Election Commission said.
According to CPN (UML) whip Mahesh Bartaula, 22 members of parliament (MPs) from the Federal Parliament and 32 MPs from the Province Assembly abstained from voting.
Bartaula said 14 MPs from Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one MP from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) are among those absent from the Federal Parliament.
On the other hand, 32 members of the Province Assembly did not cast votes. Absent are 28 MPs from RPP, 1 from Janata Samajbadi Party and 3 from NWPP.
JSP's Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, UML's Astalakshmi Shakya and Janamat Party's Mamata Jha are in the fray for the post of vice president.
JSP MP Pramila Kumari has already announced that she has withdrawn her candidacy from the vice presidential contest.
