Bagmati Province is set to formulate acts to use Newari and Tamang languages as an official languages, besides Nepali in the province.
A meeting of the Tamang and Newari Languages Implementation Preparation Committee held in the presence of Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel on Friday took a decision to this effect.
We will go for implementation after formulating laws, said Chief Minister Jamkattel.
"We have decided to bring laws on languages to use Tamang and Newari language as an official language in Bagmati Province -- a home to a large number of Tamang and Nepali people," said Jamkattel.
The act will be formulated within a month and tabled in the parliament in the Nepali month Baisakh, said Social Development Minister Kumari Moktan, who is also the chairman of the committee.
