Nepali people, who used to suffer a lot during the presidential visits on the roads of the Kathmandu Valley, have experienced a different thing today.
Breaking the previous tradition, newly elected President Ram Chandra Poudel visited Basantapur-based Kumari Ghar, the House of Living Goddess Kumari, without clearing the roads.
Earlier, the roads used to be cleared during the President's visits in the Kathmandu Valley, causing much trouble to the commuters.
He paid homage to the Living Goddess Kumari at Basantapur Durbar Square this afternoon and received prasada and blessings, said his press coordinator Khila Karki.
Chairman Gautam Ratna Shakya of Kumari Ghar, Member of Parliament (MP) Sapana Rajbhandari, and Province Assembly Member Shailendra Man Bajracharya welcomed President Poudel.
President Poudel went to pay homage to Living Goddess Kumari as per the tradition after becoming the President.
After paying homage, President had tea for the first time as the president. Earlier, there was no tradition to have tea at the Kumari Ghar.
A pooja is performed for Kumari on the day of Dashami (10th day of the month as per lunar calendar) of every month and the prasada is taken to the President on the day of Ekadashi (11th lunar day).
