Ghana Shyam Bhusal who quit the CPN (UML) prior to November 20 general elections has become the General Secretary of the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.

A central secretariat meeting of the Unified Socialist held this morning decided to appoint leader Bhusal to the post of General Secretary.

Similarly, Beduram Bhusal, who was earlier General Secretary of the party, has been promoted as the Vice Chairman.

“The secretariat meeting decided to elect Bhusal as the General Secretary unopposed,” said Deputy General Secretary Jagannath Khatiwada.

Similarly, the four vice chairpersons of the party –Ghanendra Basnet, Kedar Neupane, Dharma Nath Prasad Shah and Keshav lal Shrestha – have been appointed as central secretariat members. With this the central secretariat has 19 members.

Bhusal had taken part in the general elections from Rupandehi-1 after he quit the UML. However, he was not elected after the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) did not support him.
