Home Secretary Binod Prakash Singh conferred the insignia on IGP Kuwan amidst a special ceremony at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday.
Kunwar was appointed as IGP by the government last Friday. Although the term started on Saturday, the insignia was awarded today due to holiday.
Inspector General Kunwar has returned to the police headquarters wearing the insignia. Preparations are underway to welcome him at the Nepal Police headquarters where he will assume his duties officially.
Since the government has appointed Kunwar, who is number one, as IGP, there has been no controversy like before. Competitors have also arrived to welcome him.
