22-member US Army team in Kathmandu; to hold talks with NA from Monday

Nepali Army and US Army are holding a three-day bilateral military discussions from tomorrow.

A 22-member team of US Army has arrived in Kathmandu to participate in the bilateral military discussions to be held from March 27 to 29.

Nepal and America have been holding this kind of talks every year since 2018, said Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bhandari, the Spokesperson of the Nepali Army.

The US-Nepal joint military discussion had been held in Hawaii, USA last year.

This year’s meeting will be focused on peace, security, humanitarian assistance, disaster management and the exchange of expertise, informed the Nepali Army.

A 14-member team comprising joint-secretaries and under-secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Defense and major generals of the Nepali Army will participate in the discussions from the Nepal government.

A 22-member team led by Major General Christopher Smith, the deputy commander of US Pacific Command, will participate in the three-day discussions representing America.

Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel will lead the Nepali team.
