Ruling alliance meeting underway at Baluwatar

A meeting of the 10-party ruling alliance has started at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday.

The meeting convened at Baluwatar on Tuesday evening was postponed for today after it did not come up witth tangible results. 

The alliance meeting is expected to finalize the distribution of ministerial portfolios today.

Even though the ruling alliance had planned to expand the cabinet by Monday, it has been stalled due to the differences over the allocation of the ministerial portfolios.

In the meeting yesterday, Nepali Congress laid a claim on nine ministries, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and CPN (Unified Socialist) Party three ministries each while Loktantrik Samajbadi Party claimed two ministries.

The common minimum program (CMP) was distributed in the meeting yesterday. Party leaders will put forth their official views on the CMP in the meeting today, the leader said. 

Top leaders of the 10-party alliance are in the meeting.

Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Janamat Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nepal Samajbadi Party are in the 10-party alliance.
