Swarnim Wagle quits NC

Economist Dr Swarnim Wagle has announced to quit Nepali Congress.

Wagle has announced to quit the party in a letter addressed to Dr Shekhar Koirala, the leader of the non-establishment faction of the NC.

Koirala's secretariat has confirmed that Wagle has left the party.

"Wagle has sent a message that he will not stay in the party," said Dinesh Thapalia, personal secretary of leader Koirala, "He has announced his resignation from the party."

Wagle, an economist associated with the NC, is currently holding a meeting with the officials including RSP chairman Rabi Lamichhane.

According to RSP sources, Wagle is holding talks with the leaders of RSP Chairman Lamichhane, Deputy Chairman Dol Prasad Aryal, General Secretary Dr. Mukul Dhakal among others.

If the meeting turns out to be positive, RSP will field Wagle in the by-election to be held in Tanahun-1 on April 27.
