Demonstrators have taken to the streets demanding scrapping of ‘Koshi’ as the name for Province 1.

Pro-identity groups including Kirat Yakthung Chumlung, Kirat Yayokkha and civil society leaders demonstrated in the federal capital today.

Speaking at the protest program, an agitator expressed grievances that Koshi was adopted from the name of one sage called Kaushik, by disregarding the identities.

They warned that they would launch a more stringent protest if Province 1 is not renamed as Limbuwan-Kirat Prvoince on the basis of its historical background.
