Nepali Congress (NC) has lifted the action taken against the former joint General Secretary Govinda Raj Joshi and the former president of Chitwan Bikas Koirala.
A central work execution committee (CWEC) held on Sunday decided to waive the action taken against them.
Deputy General Secretary Badri Pandey has said that the action taken against Joshi and Koirala who rebelled against the party's official candidate has been rescinded.
"In the case of Bara, Chitwan and Tanahun, the actions of those who stood up for independence have been dismissed", he said, "Rebels and independent candidates are included in this.”
In the 2074 election, Joshi had filed his candidacy against the then senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel in Tanahun-1.
After he fielded himself as a rebel candidate, NC took action on the recommendation of District Working Committee Tanahun.
At that time, Poudel was defeated by Kisan Shrestha of CPN-UML when the vote was lost due to Joshi's rebellion.
Kisan Shrestha of the CPN (United Socialist) in the five-party alliance, reached Bara after Ram Chandra won from Tanahun-1.
After Shrestha vacated the seat, Paudel who easily won the elections on November 20, became the president on March 9.
Joshi was found guilty in a corruption case by a special court on July 25, 2012. Joshi has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against Special Court's decision. Joshi's case is pending in the Supreme Court.
In the past, Joshi had served as Minister for Home Affairs, Education, Water Resources, Sports, etc.
