Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has filed his candidacy for the by-elections to be held in Chitwan 2.

Lamichhane had been elected as a lawmaker from the same constituency in the general elections held on November 20 last year.

Jit Naraya Shrestha from Nepali Congress, Ram Prasad Neupane from CPN (UML) and Jeev Lal Puri from Rastriya Prajatantra Party have filed their candidacies to contest the by elections to be held in Chitwan 2 on April 23.

Chitwan 2 lay vacant after Lamichhane lost his post as the Member of Parliament (MP) over his citizenship dispute.

The number of voters in this constituency are 124,695.
