Govinda Bhattarai of Nepali Congress has filed his candidacy for the by-elections from Tanahun-1.
Shyam Kumar Maurati proposed Bhattarai as a candidate while his candidacy was seconded by Sarita Gurug.
Similarly, Sarbendra Khanal of CPN (UML) has filed his candidacy from this constituency.
Tanahun-1 lay vacant after senior leader of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel was elected as the president of Nepal.
The by-elections are scheduled to be held on April 23.
