Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, who is on a China visit, met Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Beijing on Thursday afternoon.
Foreign Secretary Paudyal, who arrived in Beijing to participate in the Nepal-China Bilateral Diplomatic Consultative Mechanism meeting, met with State Councilor Qin, who is also the Chinese Foreign Minister.
This is Qin’s first meeting with a Nepali official after becoming State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Qin, who is the Former Chinese Ambassador to US, Qin was appointed by President Xi Jinping to the post of Foreign Minister of China last December.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, during the meeting, issues such as strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and China, exchange of visits, development cooperation, trade, investment and tourism were discussed.
Nepali Ambassador to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, Joint Secretary Lok Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the North-East Division under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of both countries were present in the meeting.
The 15th meeting of the bilateral diplomatic consultation mechanism between Nepal and China will be held in Beijing on Friday.
The Nepali team including the foreign secretary arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to participate in the meeting.
