Ambassador of the Delegation of European Union to Nepal Nona Deprez and Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat have held a meeting on Friday.
In the meeting held at the Finance Ministry today, the two leaders reviewed the financial assistance provided by the EU to Nepal and the additional grants to be provided in the future.
The EU has been providing grant assistance on quality education, climate change and renewal energy.
Following the meeting, Dr. Mahat said the European Reconstruction Bank has expressed interest to work in Nepal.
Mahat informed that the meeting was focused on the issues including energy, infrastructure and tourism development as the EU’s assistance is crucial for Nepal for the development of these sectors, said Mahat.
Meeting between FinMin Mahat and IMF and IFC representatives
Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat and Teresa Daban Sanchez, resident representative of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Nepal Asia Pacific Department, as well as Babakar Sedikh Faye, resident representative of International Finance Corporation (IFC) under the World Bank, held a meeting at the Ministry of Finance today.
Finance Minister Dr. Mahat in the meeting appreciated IMF and IFC’s contribution in the financial sector of Nepal and expressed belief that it will remain stronger in the future.
Similarly, the representatives of IMF and IFC expressed their commitment that they are ready to provide more support in strengthening the financial sector of Nepal, according to the Finance Minister's secretariat.
