FNCCI election kicks off in Kathmandu (with photos)

The election for the new leadership of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has started.

Voting has started at Nepal Academy in Kathmandu. It will continue till 4 pm. After the voting, the counting of votes will start after 5 pm.

According to the statute of the FNCCI, the incumbent senior Vice President Chandra Dhakal will automatically become the next President of the federation.

The statute of the Federation has laid down a provision that the person elected as Senior Vice President will automatically become the President after three years of tenure.

To take the leadership after Dhakal, now the businessmen from different fields are contesting the elections.

Umesh Lal Shrestha, Anjan Shrestha and Ram Chandra Sanghai are in the election race for the post of Senior Vice President.

There are a total of 64 positions including senior vice president, vice president, central member, and founder.

In addition to the senior vice-president, eight candidates have filed nominations for the post of three vice-presidents (indusstry, commodity and associate). Dinesh Shrestha, Arun Raj Sumargi, Sur Krishna Vaidya are vying for the vice president (industry). Those vying for the vice president ( associate) include Bharat Acharya, Jyotsna Shrestha. Similarly, Sukunta Lal Hirachan, Manish Lal Pradhan, Hem Raj Dhakal are in the fray for the post of vice president (commodity). 

Three candidates registered their candidacies from Koshi Province, two each from Madhesh, Bagmati,  Gandaki, and Far West and three candidates have filed nominations from Karnali Province. Similarly, only one candidate has filed nomination from Lumbini Province. Each province has one quota in the FNCCI elections.
