The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has given the government a 10-day ultimatum to appoint the Chief Justice (CJ).
The Nepal Bar has warned the government that it would start hitting the streets if the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court were not appointed within 10 days.
Speaking at a press conference organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday, NBA President Gopal Krishna Ghimire warned that a protest would be started if the Supreme Court did not appoint new Chief Justice in the next 10 days.
Ghimire also accused the Executive and the Legislature of undermining the Supreme Court by not appointing the Chief Justice.
He said, “Our main issue today is the appointment of the Chief Justice. If the Chief Justice is not permanent, we understand that the Executive and the Legislature have cheated the Supreme Court. Our demand is that the Chief Justice should be appointed immediately.”
Also speaking on the occasion, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Hari Shankar Niraula, demanded that the Chief Justice be appointed without delay as per the law.
