Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has canceled the party membership of Member of Parliament (MP) Dhaka Kumar Shrestha.
With this, Dhaka has also lost his post of MP.
RSP has also decided to write a letter to the Election Commission to elect Bindabasini Kanshakar from the proportional list in his place.
Speaking after the meeting, Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of RSP, said that it was confirmed that Dhaka had solicited 20 million rupees from Durga Prasai.
A meeting of RSP was convened at Basundhara to take a decision on MP Dhaka Kumar Shrestha, who was involved in the case of demanding 20 million from Jhapa-based businessman Durga Prasai.
Chairman Lamichhane had come to Kathmandu to attend the meeting by road after halting election campaign in the by-election of Chitwan 2.
After seeking a written explanation and an oral statement in the case of bargaining money, the RSP meeting removed Shrestha from the party and revoked his position as MP.
The Disciplinary and Conduct Committee led by Dr Bharatmani Devkota had recommended to Chairman Lamichhane that action should be taken against Shrestha.
Prior to the meeting, Dhaka, who is also a proportional member of the RSP, had warned that if action were taken against him, he would divulge all the members of the core team involved in the transaction case with Prasai.
However, Chairman Rabi Lamichhane said it was confirmed that he was negotiating with Prasain for the amount.
