Indian side has admitted the mistake that resulted in the death of a Nepali child in Darchula when the former detonated an explosion during the construction of the road.
Mangalsingh Dhami, chairman of Byas rural municipality, said that the Indian side admitted the mistake during the discussion with the victim's family on Saturday.
"Now we are in discussions, the Indian company has admitted the mistake," Dhami said, adding, "They have said that they will educate the other children up to grade 12 and one of the family members will be employed in the company, while the victim's family has demanded proper compensation."
The victims' families are demanding that they should be given proper compensation rather than employment as it is a private company that carried out the explosion.
Pawan Mahara, a 12-year-old boy of Byas rural municipality-2, Dumling, was killed when Garg and Garg company detonated an explosion while the Indian government was widening the Tawaghat-Lipulek road across the Mahakali river.
After the incident, a team of people's representatives from Darchula went to India for discussions with the victim's family on Saturday. They have requested the Indian side to stop such activities on the Nepal-India border area as soon as possible.
"Nepali people have often suffered due to the explosions that are used to demolish mountains. We should think about appropriate measures to prevent such an incident from happening in the days ahead," said Dhami, the chairman of the municipality.
