Indian company Vedanta to procure 2,000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal

An Indian company has submitted a letter of intent to purchase 2,000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal.

India's Vedanta Limited has submitted a letter of intent to Nepal Power Exchange Limited to purchase 2,000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal. It said that it will buy 2000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal in the next five years.

The letter of intent was given at the Power Summit 2023 held in Kathmandu on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Power Summit made an agreement to sell Nepal's 2200 MW of electricity to India through the private sector.

An agreement has also been reached with Manikaran Power Company to purchase and sell 200 MW of electricity from Chuwakhola, Kasuwakhola, and other projects in Nepal.
