Manchester City outperformed Premier League leaders Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium, and dealt the race for the championship a major psychological blow.
The fight that was supposed to determine the champion ended up being shockingly one-sided.
Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne's lethal connection propelled Pep Guardiola's team, who are currently two points behind Arsenal with two games remaining.
After seven minutes, Haaland put De Bruyne away for a deft opening goal.
Arsenal then held off a barrage of attempts until John Stones headed home from a corner in first-half stoppage time.
The goal was later overturned by VAR because it had initially been judged offside.
Throughout the game, City's go-to scorer Haaland was brilliant.
In the 54th minute, the Belgian set up De Bruyne for the third goal by slipping a beautiful finish between the legs of Arsenal's Rob Holding.
After being denied by Aaron Ramsdale four times earlier in the game, Haaland concluded a memorable evening with his 49th City goal, late in the game after Holding had pulled one back for Arsenal.
Arsenal must somehow snap out of a slump that has seen them go four league games without a win at a key point in the season, while City can go top with a win against Fulham on Sunday.
