External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar congratulated his Nepali counterpart NP Saud on his new responsibility in Dhaka on Friday.
During the meeting held on the sidelines of Indian Ocean Conference, 2023 in the capital city Dhaka in Bangladesh, the two leaders discussed bilateral issues including energy, connectivity, further steps in expanding partnership and people to people ties.
"We, in the meeting, discussed further steps in our steadily expanding partnership, spoke about energy, connectivity, and enduring people to people ties," Jaishankar tweeted.
On Friday itself, the Foreign Minister held a virtual meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart where they discussed issues ranging from trade, transit, energy, education, investment and people-to-people linkages, according to Nepali Embassy in Dhaka.
Minister Saud left for Bangladesh today to attend the '6th Indian Ocean Conference 2023'. Saud is scheduled to address the conference on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
The conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the India Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs of Bangladesh, will last for two days.
During the visit, the Foreign Affairs Minister is scheduled to call on high dignitaries of the Government of Bangladesh as well as meet with participating heads of delegation from various countries on the margins of the Conference.
The Foreign Minister will return to Kathmandu on May 14.
