Foreign Minister NP Saud has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban in the capital city Dhaka on Sunday.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Hasina, the two leaders discussed cross-border connectivity, trade, transit, energy, and education among other bilateral issues.
“Discussions centered on consolidating Nepal-Bangladesh ties with a focus on cross-border connectivity, trade, transit, energy, and education among others,” tweeted Nepal Embassy in Dhaka.
Minister Saud addressed the Plenary Session of the 6th Indian Ocean Conference held in Dhaka.
Addressing the Conference, Minister NP Saud has pointed out the strategic, economic and ecological significance of the Indian Ocean and its importance as a gateway to international markets for the landlocked countries like Nepal.
Earlier, on the sidelines of the Conference, he held separate meetings with Minister for External Affairs of India Dr. Jaishankar, Takagi Kei, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mohamed Maliki bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education of Singapore, and Afreen Akhter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States.
The conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the India Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs of Bangladesh, lasted for two days.
Saud is returning to Kathmandu today itself.
