Nepali Congress leader Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has claimed that the audio footage released on the fake Bhutanese refugee case is premeditated and misleading.
Speaking at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Monday, Rana threw a tantrum saying that truth of the audio was not made public even after six days of her complaint.
“There are audios made of other people, too. But, why is the name of mine pronounced only?” She said, 'To tell you the truth, as a woman, this is not only the character assassination, but also the rape of my character,” complained Arzu.
Rana, a member of the House of Representatives, objected saying that this is the height of fake news ever disseminated by media.
She said, “I am not very active on social media. Fake news has crossed its limit in our country,” said Arzu, stressing the need on some sorts of government mechanisms to curb such fake news.
"I lodged a complaint six days ago with the cybercrime cell under the CIB seeking probe in the fake audio footage on the fake Bhutanese refugee case," she said, “Friends may not believe that she is the wife of such an influential leader of the ruling party. It took three hours to register the complaint. I want to learn the answer from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Six days on, the truth of the audio footage has not been made public.”
She said that the media outlets are forcing women to commit suicide by casting many insults on them. "I have been experiencing such behavior ever since she came into politics," said she.
Lawmaker Rana also demanded that the truth of this footage be made public as soon as possible.
