Former lawmaker of Nepali Congress (NC) Angtawa Sherpa has surrendered to Nepal Police on Monday evening.
Sherpa, against whom an arrest warrant had been issued on May 12, has surrendered himself to Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, on Monday evening, AIG Shyam Lal Gyawali told Nepalkhabar.
Earlier, Sherpa met Sanu Bhandari and Keshav Dulal, who were earlier arrested in the refugee case, and asked them not to mention the name of former Home Minister and Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand. After Khand was arrested, the police issued an arrest warrant against him for investigation.
But Sherpa turned off his mobile and went into hiding.
With this, the number of people arrested in connection with the refugee case has reached 14.
Earlier on Sunday evening, the suspended secretary of UML, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who is also the former deputy prime minister, was arrested.
