Nepali Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Gagan Kumar Thapa has stressed the need to formulate a code of conduct for the operation of the parliamentary committee meetings.
Speaking at a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on Tuesday, Thapa said that it is a tradition to call the meeting of the committee following the discussions between the committee secretary and the chairman.
He said that a certain time period should be set for the committee meeting to be convened except for emergency cases.
Similarly, the code of conduct is also necessary when it comes to languages to be used in the committee meetings.
"We should formulate a code of conduct regarding how to speak and how to present ourselves in the committee meetings," said Thapa.
Except for emergency cases, the secretariat should make a proposal about calling a meeting in a gap of a certain period, Thapa said.
