Supreme Court (SC) has upheld the decision of the High Court Dipayal to sentence Resham Chaudhary, the mastermind of Tikapur killing, to life in prison.
With the decision, the possibility of release of Resham, who is languishing in Dilli Bazaar jail after being convicted of the Tikapur carnage, is almost over.
Chaudhary had filed a petition at the SC seeking a review on the High Court's decision.
After the hearing on the appeal, a joint bench of Justices Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Nahakul Subedi issued a verdict on Tuesday stating that a clean chit on the case was unlikely.
In the case of other defendants involved in this case, the SC has made minor amendments to the sentence imposed by the lower court.
Among the other defendants, Gangaram Chaudhary and Sitaram Chaudhary were acquitted by the Supreme Court, reversing the decision of the High Court Dipayal.
Likewise, another opponent Laxman Tharu is handed down three years in imprisonment by reducing five years of jail time directed by the Dipayal High Court.
