Another person involved in the multi-million fraud scam of sending Nepali citizens to America in the guise of Bhutanese refugees has been arrested.
Shamsher Miya, chairman of Nepal Haj Committee, was arrested by the police on Thursday from the premises of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in Singha Durbar.
He has now been taken to the District Police Range Kathmandu.
The police arrested him after it was revealed that Miya had allowed the racketeers to use the Hajj Committee's government vehicle.
With this, the number of people arrested in the case of fake refugees has reached 15. Earlier, former Congress MP Angtawa Sherpa himself surrendered to the police.
Similarly, former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Nepal Government Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, Dr. Indrajit Rai, security advisor to then Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, , Khand's private secretary Narendra KC have been arrested.
Likewise, Sandesh Sharma, Top Bahadur's son Sandeep, Ramsharan KC, Govinda Chaudhary, Sagar Rai, Tanka Bahadur Gurung, Keshav Dulal and Sanu Bhandari have been arrested.
Two others, Pratik Thapa, son of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur and Indrajit Rai’s son Niraj, against whom arrest warrants have been issued, are absconding.
