Vice-President Brooks pays courtesy call on DPM Shrestha

Deputy Vice-President for Europe, Asia and Pacific and Latin America Jonathon Brooks called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha on Saturday.

At a courtesy meet, Matters related to the overall status of the implementation of the project being run by MCC under the Millennium Challenge Account Nepal Development Committee, the Home Ministry informed.

"This is a courtesy call. Light discussion was held on the activities being carried out in the project under MCC. Brooks urged for the possible support of the Ministry of Home Affairs in regard to security, coordination, compensation and land acquisition", Home Secretary Dinesh Bhatatrai said while sharing about the meeting.

The task of land acquisition for the expansion of power transmission line and road under the project has yet to be done.

Secretary Bhattarai further said Brooks had urged for coordination from Homer Ministry for compensation distribution and land acquisition despite involvement of Chief District Officers to this end.

During the meet, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha assured the visiting MCC official of providing necessary support from the ministry and district for the successful implementation of the project.

The expansion and maintenance of around 315-km 400-kv double circuit transmission line and around 305-km strategic road network is being done as part of the project under Millennium Challenge Nepal Account Development Committee.
