Police have submitted an investigation report on the fake refugee case to the district attorney's office on Monday.
District Police Range Kathmandu has submitted the investigation report mentioning 32 individuals as defendants including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey.
The police have listed 16 individuals as defendants who are currently doing time in custody while 16 others are on the fugitive list.
Now the public prosecutor will take this case to the District Court by coming Friday.
Sixteen people including Deputy Prime Minister Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Khand have been arrested on the charge of defrauding Nepali citizens of millions of by sending them to America in the guise of Bhutanese of refugees.
Rayamajhi, former home minister Khand, former home secretary Pandey, former parliamentarian Angtawa Sherpa, former home minister's security adviser Indrajit Rai, former home minister Khan's private secretary Narendra KC, Hajj Committee chairman Shamsher Miya and refugee leader Teknath Rijal have been arrested for cheating in the name of refugees.
Similarly, Sanu Bhandari, Keshav Dulal, Sandesh Sharma, Sagar Rai, Tanka Gurung, Top Bahadur's son Sandeep Rayamajhi, Gobinda Chaudhary and Ram Sharan KC are in custody.
After the public prosecutor's office files the charges, the court will record their statements. The arguments and counter arguments will begin behind closed doors.
After hearing both the arguments and counter arguments, the district court will issue a verdict on the case.
