In the fake Bhutanese refugee case, the police have proceeded with the case against those who were arrested and those who are absconding on the charge of defrauding millions of rupees under five crimes.
While submitting the investigation report to the district attorney's office, the police concluded that the case should be prosecuted for five different crimes.
District Police Range Kathmandu has submitted the investigation report mentioning 32 individuals including former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Nepal Government Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey as defendants.
According to the investigation report, a decision has been made to prosecute 16 people who were arrested and 16 others who are on the run for fraud, money laundering, organized crime and crimes against national interest.
Similarly, the police submitted a file to the public prosecutor to prosecute the public officials including Rayamajhi, Khand, Pandey and Indrajit Rai for corruption.
Now the public prosecutor will take this case to the district court by coming Friday. The first accused was arrested in this case for the first time on March 26.
