CAVA Women’s Volleyball: Defending champions Nepal finish third

Nepal have finished third in the CAVA Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup tournament held in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Nepal won 3-1 sets against Uzbekistan.

In the match at the National Sports Council in Tripureshwar, the two-time defending champions Nepal, managed to finish third by defeating Uzbekistan this time.

After losing the first set 20-25, Nepal won the next three sets consecutively and turned the game in their favor.

Nepal won easily 25-16 in the second set and 25-15 in the third set.

In the fourth and final set, Nepal finished third in the Challenge Cup with a win of 25-13.

Likewise, Uzbekistan finished fourth.

Earlier, Nepal lost to Kazakhstan in the second semi-final. At that time, Nepal were defeated in the set 3-2 and missed the hat-trick trip to the title.

Uzbekistan, which also lost to Nepal, were the runner-up of the previous edition. They were defeated by India in the previous semi-final encounter 3-0 in straight sets.

Nepal, earlier, had defeated Uzbekistan. In the final match of the second Central Zone held in Bangladesh last year, Nepal won the title with a set of 3-2.

Today, India and Kazakhstan will compete for the Challenge Cup title. The final match will start at 4 pm.
