CPN (UML) has sent an intra-party directive (IPD) to its subordinate committees stating that the provison of the 70-year-age limt has been suspended.

The CC meeting held from May 11 to 13 and the Secretariat meeting held on June 2 took the decision to remove the provision of 70-year-age limit in the party statue.

UML had set a provision in the party statute that one should not reach the age of 70 to contest the CC election through the Ninth General Convention held in Kathmandu.

UML has been holding a statute convention to officially remove the 70-year-age limit from the party statute.

Once it is endorsed by the statute convention, it will pave the way for Oli to become the chairman of the party again.
