A single bench of Justice Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai issued the order to register the writ petition which had earlier been quashed by the administration of the Supreme Court.
Former Maoist combatant Lenin Bista had filed the case against Prachanda stating that the use of children as soldiers during the insurgency violates the International Humanitarian Law.
Bista had filed the case at the apex court seeking an interim order on the registration of his writ after it was turned down by the administration.
In the writ, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal‘Prachanda’ and Nepal Samajbadi Party Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai have been mentioned as defendants.
Prachanda and Dr. Bhattarai had been chairman and senior leader of the then CPN (Maoist) that waged a 10-year-long insurgency in Nepal.
