Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has expressed commitment that he would leave no stone unturned to bring reforms in the party.
Speaking at the 11th convention of the Democratic Lawyers’ Association, a well-wishers’ organization of the party, held at Ratnanagar in Chitwan, Koirala vowed to bring a massive overhaul in the party.
“I would like to request our leaders and cadre associated with this association to take stock of the Nepali Congress in Chitwan, have interactions with the cadres and suggest us what things can be done, how we can move ahead. We will leave no stone unturned to bring reforms in the party,” said Koirala.
He called on all the party rank and file to stand united to connect the democratic movement of Nepal with the main political sentiments of the country.
"Still, some of the pro-democratic fighters are worried that the democratic movement has lost its way and they may be upset with us," Koirala said, "It is a high time we united to connect the democratic movement of Nepal with the main political sentiment of the country so as to fulfill the responsibility given to us by the elders.”
Koirala went on to say that party leaders have violated the party's statute, policies and rules, turning a blind eye to some crucial issues, leader Koirala said.
Koirala said that the local elections, general elections and by-elections have posed both challenges and opportunities to them.
"We are not in regular contact and often maintain distance with people at the moment. This is sad. Launching programs that connect with the people is the first need of the moment," he said.
